Grief and Praise
A Day of Song and Creation
Saturday, February 27, 2027
10:00 am–4:30 pm
Friends House
60 Lowther Avenue, Toronto
Holding our grief and gratitude in song and creation.
Join us for a day of holding our grief and gratitude in song and creation.
We will take our time over the day as we honour and sing to the many faces of loss—personal, collective, and ecological. We will sing to the grief we hold in our hearts, to the grief we carry for those we have loved, for the Earth, and for the world in which we live.
And working with the invitation that perhaps grief is love with everywhere to go, we will also sing our praise – gratitude for our lives, for the beauty of this earth, for creation itself.
In this way we will invite in the spectrum of what it is to walk this human path.
This is a facilitated psychotherapy group, offering space to explore grief, gratitude and our relationship to loss through singing, creative expression, quiet reflection and presence. There is no pressure to share personal stories.
An invitation to create as you sing.
Throughout the day, there will be the option to engage in simple, contemplative art-making offerings as part of the singing. Materials such as watercolour, beeswax, weaving, and charcoal will be available—each connected to a different aspect of grief.
Participants are also welcome to bring their own handwork or art projects in process, as well as a journal for writing. These offerings are an invitation to create as you sing, to follow whichever medium calls to you, or to simply rest in the sound. All of these elements are available for you to engage with—or not—as feels right for you at the moment.
